OUR WORK
Projects that demonstrate delivery-focused thinking.
We have contributed to some of Australia's most complex and high-profile infrastructure programs. Below is a selection of projects where our delivery-focused approach made a difference. Each one shows the same thing in a different sector: design decisions that hold up when the work hits the ground.
Goulburn River Solar Farm
Hullcon’s role: Design Management
Stage: Concept Design to IFC
A 585MW solar farm on a site with undulating levels and challenging soil conditions.
What our design delivered: We optimised civil design across a large geographical footprint and managed complex interfaces to stay within the MW cap, while unlocking land for future BESS integration.

Springvale BESS
Hullcon’s role: Design Management
Stage: Concept Design to IFC
A 115MW battery energy storage system on a repurposed landfill site in an urban council environment.
What our design delivered:Value engineering and optimisation at tender stage delivered a winning design solution. Our design met technical requirements while working through challenging ground conditions subject to long-term settlement.

North East Link, Eastern Freeway Burke to Tram (Permanent Works)
Hullcon’s role: Design Management
Stage: Detailed Design to IFC
Civil Lead and Design Management support to the Arcadis/WSP Design Joint Venture, upgrading a 6km section of freeway to support the new tunnel.
What our design delivered: Value engineering advice and design support to the Alliance, with a strong focus on constructability & staging, resulting in significant cost reductions through design optimisation.

North East Link, Eastern Freeway Burke to Tram, Doncaster Rd (Temporary Works)
Hullcon’s role: Design Management, temporary works
Stage: Detailed Design to IFC
Design of Stage 2 of four temporary Eastern Freeway ramps and Doncaster Road
to enable permanent works construction. We managed changing constraints
and requirements across a 9-month programme, working through challenging interfaces with construction packages.
What our design delivered: Proactive identification of risks to road users and the construction team led to an alternative temporary barrier alignment that worked with the partially constructed structure.

Edinburgh MTR
Hullcon’s role: Design Management
Stage: Concept Design to IFC
Structural load assessment and retrofit of two existing switching station structures, gantry and transformer slabs, plus the design of two new electrical switching stations. The new stations comprise steel framing supports for electrical conductor equipment, gantry, and the footings supporting equipment, gantry and transformer.
What our design delivered: Staging design ensured that issues and constraints encountered during design and early construction of the first new switching station fed directly into a more streamlined delivery for the second.
